FOR ENGINEERING TEAMS IN OFF-HIGHWAY AND AGRICULTURE

Your connection is working harder than it used to

Stage V and Tier 4 Final are pushing boost pressure and thermal load higher — the clamped hose behind it was designed for a different duty cycle.

Why engineering teams are moving off the clamp

Robustness

Up to 240 °C and 6.5 bar absolute — a metal connector that holds under sustained load.

Assembly quality

One automated crimp joins hose and connector — no clamp required.

Traceability

Every part carries a laser-etched data matrix code.

The clamp used to be good enough

Compression set in the rubber, micro-leaks at the clamp interface, and hoses slipping off under sustained load spikes are typical failure modes of a clamped hose connection. Until recently, that was a manageable risk.

Rising boost pressure and thermal load under Stage V and Tier 4 Final are moving that boundary. Is your current interface still built for where boost pressure and temperature are heading?

Why metal, not plastic

Most VDA-standard connectors in this segment are injection-molded, glass-fibre-reinforced plastic — built for a low piece price, but still fastened to the hose with a separate clamp. HC.AIR and HC.WATER make the opposite trade.

A one-piece metal design delivers temperature and pressure headroom, corrosion resistance, and a build that won't creep or degrade over thousands of operating hours. The coupling can be released from its counterpart at any time — service and maintenance work as usual. Only the crimp onto the hose or tube is permanent: connector and line form one unit. Whether that trade pays off on your platform is quick to assess against real load cases — and we're glad to do it with you.

Connected in three steps

Position, crimp, done — no clamp, no extra fastening element.

HC.AIR and HC.WATER at a glance

HC.AIR — CHARGE AIR

  • Fields of application: intercoolers, turbochargers, throttle bodies; crimped to hard/soft plastic, rubber hose or metal tube
  • Design: 1-piece stainless steel sleeve (1.4301); spring clip and retainer 1.4310
  • FKM: −20 to 240°C (245°C, 3h) | AEM: −40 to 160°C (180°C, 3h)
  • Pressure: 0.6–6.5 bar absolute
  • Diameter range: 35–75mm across 10 sizes, VDA-compliant

HC.WATER / HCW — COOLING WATER

  • Fields of application: water intercooler, water pump, thermostat, heat exchanger, coolant manifold, heating circuit; HCW for large diameters and high flow rates
  • Design: galvanized steel body (HC.WATER); 1-piece stainless steel (1.4301) in HCW
  • LSR: −40 to 135°C (150°C, 22h) | EPDM: −20 to 135°C
  • Pressure: HC.WATER 0.01–6 bar absolute | HCW 0.6–5.5 bar absolute
  • Diameter range: HC.WATER 12–35mm (7 sizes) | HCW 45 & 55mm, VDA-compliant
HENN MP20 crimping machine

Two connector families, one assembly principle

HC.AIR serves charge-air systems; HC.WATER and HCW serve cooling-water systems. Both follow the same principle: a one-piece metal connector, permanently crimped to the hose.

The connector, the crimping machine (HENN's MP15/16/20) and the crimp parameters come from a single source. There is no separate fastening element to spec, stock or validate.

Why HENN?

Every part traceable.
Reusable through remanufacturing.
Built for off-highway duty.

Every HC.AIR and HC.WATER connector carries a laser-etched data matrix code — full traceability, part by part. Because the design is metal rather than plastic, it can go through an engine remanufacturing process and come out reusable. That holds from high-boost tractor platforms to high-volume compact models.
